Initially, only the Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering courses were offered. In 1970 the present campus was opened in Badstraße Street, Offenburg. 1971 the conversion of the School of Engineering into the Fachhochschule of Offenburg followed. In 1978, the curriculum was expanded to include Economic courses. Therefore, the new faculty of Economics was founded. It was decided, also due to space limitations, that the new faculty will get its own campus in a former monastery in the nearby town of Gengenbach. In 1984, already 1100 students studied in four faculties at the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg. To supplement the courses offered and for the sake of cooperation with the local publishing company Hubert Burda Media, 1996, the course Media and Information Sciences was established. In the same year, the Institute for Applied Research was founded, which deals with research and research contracts from the industry. In 2000, the University got the deserved reward for its continuous development. The Donors’ Association for German Science awarded the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg the award “reform university”. At the same time, the Graduate School of Offenburg University of Applied Sciences was founded, which today serves and coordinates four international study programs. As part of the transition to the Bachelor/Master’s degrees (Bologna process) in 2005, the Fachhochschule Offenburg has been renamed to Hochschule Offenburg. 2007, the construction of a proper building for the Faculty of Media and Information Sciences was started. After 2 years of construction, the new building was inaugurated in October 2009. The inauguration exercises were attended by the then Prime Minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg Günther Oettinger and the media entrepreneur Hubert Burda. Currently, about 3250 students study at the University of Offenburg.
The Transcript of Records is a document you will need to present, as part of the application process at your future host university from abroad. If you will be part of an exchange programme, you will also need another official transcript of records at the end of your study period, completed by the university where you attended courses.
The Transcript of Records (ToR) consists basically of a list of the course units taken, the exams you have passed and the credits gained.
In the Transcript, you can usually see:
the course unit code (basically the code the host university gives to a specific academic course)
the title of the courses you have attended at your host university
the duration of the course (if one semester or two)
the local grade (your exam mark, which is very important in order to get your ECTS credits)
the ECTS credits you have gained by passing the exam
In case your home university does not use the ECTS system, the transcript of records should include an explanation of the credit and grading systems used. If you’re submitting the ToR online, you can describe the grading scale used at the institution at the time of study. The description should clarify which are the highest and lowest grades.
Depending on the rules set by each university, your academic records can be filled by yourself or the home and/or host university, usually the International Office. Normally, the ToR is being filled once you have passed all your exams included in the Learning Agreement, and, usually, the failed courses won’t be listed, just the ones you passed.
